The Village of Kewaskum Wastewater Treatment Facility is accepting applications for Wastewater Operator/Lab Technician. Primary duty is to perform wastewater lab analysis and assist with wastewater operations in compliance with the WPDES permit, DNR regulations and Village policy.
Maintains bench sheets, data reporting, utilizes Hach Wims and Microsoft software for data reports. Maintains required quality control for reporting. This position will serve as the backup to the Certified Operator-in-Charge. Rotating holiday and weekend duties required.
Major Position Duties:
1. Maintain and operate waste treatment plant (WWTP), sewage lift stations and sewer utility collection system including jetting, cleaning, and televising.
2. Performs laboratory tests on wastewater according to DNR rules and regulations.
3. Collect daily samples.
4. Utilize SCADA system for plant operations, lift station data, etc.
5. Work with bio solids disposal including cleaning the digesters and storage tank.
6. Inspect and clean sanitary sewer main in accordance with the DNR required CMOM program.
7. Maintain the plant, lab and lift stations including: cleaning, painting, mowing grass, plowing/hauling/clearing snow, etc. repair any breakdowns.
8. Maintains records of tests, chemicals, calibration of equipment, and other records as required by government agencies.
9. Operate and monitor sewer telemetry system.
10. Assist with public works/water utility functions on an as needed basis including plowing snow and water main breaks.
11. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education, Experience, Requirements:
a. Requires a High School diploma or equivalent
b. Requires valid Wisconsin driver’s license
c. Requires Wisconsin CDL with tanker and airbrakes endorsements or ability to obtain them within three months of hire
d. Must pass all applicable Wisconsin DNR Basic Wastewater General Certifications within two years of hire
e. Must acquire Wisconsin DNR Advanced Certifications within four years of hire or sooner
f. Participate in DOT required drug and alcohol testing program.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
1. Knowledge of an activated sludge wastewater treatment facility.
2. Skilled in use and maintenance of lab equipment.
3. Ability to perform pump maintenance, lift station work and collection system work.
4. Ability to use lawn mowers, snow plows, end loader, and dump trucks.
5. Ability to perform physical and manual work including lifting, pulling, climbing, standing and walking.
6. Ability to work under various weather and working conditions including confined spaces.
7. Ability to perform laboratory tests as required by the State.
8. Ability to work flexible hours as to meet the demands/needs of the job.
