WWOA Youth Apprenticeship Involvement Grant

Help Build the Next Generation of Wisconsin’s Water & Wastewater Professionals

WWOA is offering a Youth Apprenticeship Involvement Grant to provide funding to one WWOA member municipality to support participation in the Wisconsin Youth Apprenticeship Program during the 2027–2028 school year.

WWOA doesn’t want cost to be the reason not to participate. This grant helps offset a portion of youth apprentice wage costs while providing students with hands-on experience exploring careers in water and wastewater operations.

Selected facilities must demonstrate the capacity to provide meaningful, supervised, hands-on experience aligned with water and wastewater operations and the core competencies outlined in the Water Resources Career Pathway.

Grant Participation Requirements

  • Commitment to 450 paid Youth Apprenticeship hours
  • Program term: May 2027 – August 2028
  • Employer participation required
  • Payroll documentation required for reimbursement
  • Up to two disbursements, maximum reimbursement capped at $3,000

Grant Timeline

  • Application open: October 2026
  • Grant Awarded: April 2027
  • Use of Funds: Beginning Summer of 2027–2028 school year (two budget cycles)
