Waupun Utilities is seeking a motivated and dependable individual to join our team as a Water/Wastewater Treatment Facilities Operator. This position involves the operation, monitoring, maintenance, and troubleshooting of both the wastewater treatment facility and reverse osmosis water treatment facility. The ideal candidate will have experience in water and wastewater operations, mechanical maintenance, electrical systems, industrial maintenance, or related utility operations. Waupun Utilities is willing to train the right candidate.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Operating and monitoring water and wastewater treatment processes and equipment

  • Collecting samples and performing laboratory testing

  • Monitoring and ensuring compliance with regulatory and permit requirements

  • Troubleshooting facility operations, equipment, and control systems

  • Performing preventative and corrective maintenance on treatment facility equipment

  • Operating and monitoring SCADA systems

  • Assisting with general facility and grounds maintenance

Ideal candidates should have experience repairing and maintaining equipment such as centrifugal pumps, diaphragm pumps, chemical feed systems, blowers, sewage lift stations, belt filter presses, water processing equipment, and air- and electrically-operated valves.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required

  • Associate degree or technical training in wastewater/water technology, environmental science, mechanical maintenance, electrical systems, or a related field preferred

  • Two (2) to four (4) years of related experience preferred

  • Candidates with mechanical, electrical, industrial maintenance, or utility operations experience are encouraged to apply

  • Wisconsin Wastewater Treatment Operator certifications preferred or required within an established timeframe following employment

  • Valid Wisconsin driver’s license required

  • Ability to participate in on-call rotations, weekend schedules, and emergency response activities as required

  • Ability to relocate within 30 minutes of Waupun within one year of hire
