The Maintenance Technician is expected to perform preventive maintenance and corrective maintenance on mechanical, electromechanical, and electrical machinery and equipment to assure safe, efficient operation and meet all discharge requirements. Other duties include, providing on-going information and guidance for the district maintenance/operation program and assisting, promoting and training co-workers. The Maintenance Technician is expected to work independently under the general supervision of the Water Reclamation Superintendent. This is a full-time, non-exempt position.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
• Assists with operations and maintenance, performing operational tasks as required.
• Inspects and lubricates equipment.
• Replaces packing in pumps or valves, and bearings in motors, pumps, and other
equipment.
• Diagnoses mechanical and basic electrical failures in equipment.
• Installs and maintains piping systems associated with wastewater treatment and performs
other plumbing and tasks as required.
• Performs required maintenance welding including Oxyacetylene, ARC, and MIG.
• Performs basic duties of electrician, wiring, de-wiring, and troubleshooting.
• Installs and sets up new equipment.
• Maintains and evaluates records using programs such as Microsoft Excel and Word and
asset management software.
• Performs general maintenance and repair on buildings, structures and grounds, as
required.
• Participates in Bio-Solids Injection program, including driving combination tankers and
field equipment.
• Assists with lift station operations as required.
• Locates and marks sewer lines as needed for the Diggers Hotline locate program.
• Assists contractors and service personnel when completing maintenance functions for
WalCoMet.
• Participate as team member of permit required confined space entries, as required,
including following all applicable safety procedures.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Must have thorough knowledge of water reclamation and collection system machinery
and equipment, plus ability to perform necessary maintenance and repairs.
• Ability to read blueprints and plan sets.
• Knowledge of personal computers and basic software.
• Ability to handle variety of duties with written or verbal instruction without close
supervision.
• Possess valid Wisconsin Driver’s License.
• Wisconsin Commercial Driver’s License with proper endorsements preferred but not
required.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
• High school graduate or equivalent training and experience, trade school education highly
desirable.
• Vocational or technical school shop courses or equivalent on-the-job training.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in mechanical maintenance work in water reclamation
facilities or related field.
• Training in water reclamation facility processes.

WORK SCHEDULE:
• This position is located at the Walworth County Metropolitan Sewerage District offices and
water reclamation facility headquarter at 975 Walworth Ave., Delavan, WI with hours 7:00
AM to 3:30 PM generally, some evening and weekend work may be required.
