Thank you

I want to thank each one of you who work in this profession.  Our membership is made up of consulting engineers, manufacture representatives, wastewater business owners, laboratory professionals, department of natural resources workers, those that build our facilities, those that maintain our facilities, and operators.  Everyone in this field impacts what is eventually discharged back to the environment.  Thank you for making sure wastewater moves away from homes and businesses through underground infrastructure successfully.  Thank you for designing sophisticated and amazing biological treatment facilities.  Thank you for supplying, maintaining, and building the equipment used to treat wastewater.  Thank you for analyzing and monitoring the processes and the water that is discharged to our environment.  Our profession and membership are made up of many amazing individuals.

As we think of the amazing individuals that we work with each day, it leads me to remind everyone to nominate someone for an award at the upcoming Annual Conference.  Taking the time to fill out nomination paperwork is just one way that we can help recognize excellence in our profession.  Think about those who have had an impact, those who have made a difference, and help them get the recognition that they deserve.  This is just one aspect of the Conference that many look forward to each year.  The 57th Annual Conference in the Wisconsin Dells will be held October 24th through the 27th and registration is now open.  We will once again be bringing many educational opportunities this year.  There were close to 80 abstracts submitted for the conference’s technical sessions and this was done all electronically, which was new this year!  WWOA is anticipating record attendance at this year's conference.  Please make sure to register well in advance to ensure your spot at the conference and to ensure your room at the Kalahari.

The early part of this year has been very successful.  We have seen amazing attendance at the Midwest Water & Wastewater Expo, the Government Affairs Seminar, the Spring Biosolids Symposium, and several regional meetings.  It is great to see many of our professionals back in person at meetings and networking with each other.  There is something to be said about being together at these events.  We certainly learn about the industry from the presentations, but we learn from each other as well.

In closing, I want to emphasize that extraordinary people make up our membership and in one way or another play a part in making sure clean water is discharged back to the environment.  Thank you for all that you do!

Jeremy
