Water/Wastewater Utility Operator

The Village of Fairwater (population 370) is in need of a Utility Operator who works well on their own.

The wastewater system is a recycling sand filter. The water system is standard with one well, iron removal, and chlorination system.

The Utility Operator monitors and maintains the water system (including the distribution system and hydrants) to provide safe drinking water; and monitors and maintains the wastewater treatment system on a daily basis to ensure proper operation (including performing the required testing and data entry).

The Utility Operator position would entail approximately 20-25 hours a week as a part-time position.

The job could also be a full-time position by added street and building maintenance, custodial jobs and duties, including snow removal as needed and some maintenance of parks and other village property.

Ideally an applicant will have:

Certification and experience in water/wastewater systems, or will obtain such certification within the next year;
Valid Wisconsin Driver's license;
Ability to work independently;
Ability to troubleshoot and make sound decisions with minimal supervision;
Ability to work well with the Village Board and other village employees
Pay scale commensurate with experience and certification.
