The City of Whitewater is seeking a qualified individual to fill the Full-Time Wastewater Specialist II position. This position is primarily responsible for providing assistance to Wastewater Operators at the utility. The Specialist II position will be asked to work independently, make decisions and plan their work day/week under the general guidance of Operators and/or Management. This includes work at the Wastewater Treatment Facility as well as at remote locations associated with the collection system.
The wage range for the position is $18.37 to $22.92 per hour. The City of Whitewater offers a comprehensive benefit plan, including participation in the Wisconsin Retirement System.

Position: Wastewater Utility-Specialist II
The facility is located on north edge of the City and has recently undergone an extensive upgrade which includes main control building renovations, replacement of our secondary treatment process and electrical systems. With this upgrade the utility is planning for decades of high quality water treatment and service to local and regional residents and businesses.
The City of Whitewater Wastewater Utility is seeking an energetic, perceptive, self-motivated and eager team oriented person to join our staff. Pride in workmanship and a desire for continual learning and training are vital for utility success. The preferred person would bring with them the ability to prioritize tasks and responsibilities using sound judgment and thought processes in an efficient manner. Specific to this job search we are seeking a person with skills in the following areas: mechanical repair experience, electrical and mechanical troubleshooting capabilities, versed in common plumbing practices and repairs, HVAC systems knowledge and familiarity with welding and various shop tools.
Candidates must have strong computer knowledge and skills. They should be comfortable working with Microsoft Office suite programs. We are seeking those who have an associate degree or greater or have record of further supplementary training. Experience in lieu of education will be considered. Preferred candidates will have experience and or exposure to wastewater utility systems and terminology. A valid WI CDL license is necessary within 6 months along with the ability to routinely lift and carry 50 lbs. A physical and alcohol/drug screens are conditions of employment. Staff is required to work on a rotating “on call” schedule which includes weekends and holiday hours. Typical weekend duties total approximately 2.5 hrs./day.
Salary – The starting salary is $18.37 and runs to a maximum of $22.92.
