The Racine Wastewater Utility is responsible for the recycling of municipal wastewater for return as a clean resource into Lake Michigan through the operation of advanced computer instrumentation and mechanical equipment. The Utility is designed to treat 36 mgd of regional flow serving the City of Racine, Village of Mount Pleasant, Village of Caledonia, Village of Sturtevant, Village of Elmwood Park, and Village of North Bay. The greater Racine area is poised for substantial growth, due to the forthcoming addition of Foxconn and exciting associated industrial, commercial, and residential development.

The purpose of this position is to perform industrial and sanitary sewer flow sampling and monitoring, sewer/lift station maintenance, and collection system emergency response.

An Associate’s Degree related to water quality technology or environmental health is preferred but not required. WI DNR general wastewater operator license and collection system subgrade (SS) license is required within 1 year of hire. Candidate must also hold a valid state-issued driver’s license. A class-B commercial driver’s license (CDL), and confined space entry training certification are required within 6 months of hire. Proficiency with computer applications and programming electronic instrumentation is also needed. The hiring pay range for this position is $21.84/hr to $25.70/hr pending qualifications (maximum position pay to $30.84/hr). Applications are being accepted through October 14, 2019.
