Public Works Superintendent - Genoa City

Village of Genoa City

The Village of Genoa City, Wisconsin, Department of Public Works seeks a full-time Public Works Superintendent.  This position oversees the daily operations of the Department of Public Works including but not limited to general public service operation delivery.  It also includes the operations and maintenance of the sanitary sewer, water and storm sewer systems, park system, public roadway system, and all public building and facilities.   General Public Works operations include streets, street lights, sanitary, storm and water utilities, public signage, snow and ice removal, vehicle and equipment management and public parks including forestry.  Administrative duties include but are not limited to review and approval of purchases and invoices, inventory management, the development, review and management of annual budgets, timesheet approval and staff personnel management.  

This salary position reports directly to the Village Board.  The position requires response to emergencies (including after-hours), providing directions to other Public Works Department employees and handling long work assignments as the need arises.  The Village offers an excellent benefits package including, but not limited to; paid vacation, sick, and holiday time, health, dental and life insurance, deferred compensation programs, and retirement contributions as part of the Wisconsin Retirement System.  

Candidates must have excellent leadership and interpersonal skills to be able to manage, direct and organize the Public Works staff and the ability to daily interact with residents via numerous forms of communication.  Candidates must have a Wisconsin Motor Vehicle Commercial Driver’s License or have the ability to obtain one and must be maintained during tenure. Must hold basic Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Certifications: Biological Solid/Sludge Handling, Processing & Reuse, Biological Treatment, Suspended Growth Processes, Disinfection, Nutrient Removal and Total Phosphorus, and Solids Separation. Also, Water Operator Certifications of: Distribution Grade 1, Groundwater Grade 1, and Iron Removal Grade 1.

Work hours are generally 6:30 am–3:00 pm Monday-Friday.  This is a salary position with a pay DOQ and experience.
