Civil Engineer/Project Specialist - LTE

The City of La Crosse is accepting applications for a limited term Civil Engineer/Project Specialist in the Utilities Department. Under the direction of the Utility Manager, this position is responsible for planning, managing, supervising, directing and evaluating assigned, ongoing capital, operational and maintenance projects. This position oversees all aspects of project delivery of assigned projects including: planning, implementation, and monitoring of project scope, schedule, budget, and contractor/city/community engagement. This position is expected to exercise a high degree of expertise, initiative, and independent decision-making to ensure satisfaction. Additionally, the position assists with long and short-range planning projects, needs assessments, feasibility studies, and project/program evaluation.
Requirements: Bachelor’s or Associates degree in engineering, engineering technology, construction management, or related field from an accredited program, plus two (2) years’ experience developing and implementing municipal projects. Prior supervisory or leadership experience preferred. Valid motor vehicle license required. Working knowledge of computer software a must. Selected candidate subject to background check and post-offer/pre-employment drug screen.
Starting wage for this position is $25.00 per hour. Work schedule is Monday through Friday with starting and ending times as needed to match project schedule; up to 40 hours per week. This is a limited term position through October 31st, 2021. Position does not acquire benefits. Some flexibility for time off or lessor hours per week maybe available if discussed at time of application. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.
